The Dubai Criminal Court convicted a 52-year-old Asian and sentenced him to 6 months in prison, fined him 40,000 dirhams, and deported him from the state following serving his sentence for offering the fine to two policemen following he was arrested as a bribe for failing to raise his name as a suspect in a case of forced theft.
The details of the case date back to last September, when a police patrol arrested an Asian suspect in a case of forced theft, and according to a policeman’s statement in the investigations, a patrol managed to arrest an Asian who was suspected of participating in a crime of theft in Al Raffa area in Dubai. During his interrogation, the investigating policeman and his partner were offered 20,000 dirhams each to remove his name from the case and release him.
The policeman added that he pretended to agree to the suspect’s request to have his name removed from the indictment in the case of forced theft, so the suspect handed him 20,000 dirhams and the other policeman a similar amount as a bribe.
