There are many people who suffer from followingeffects such as coughing that does not stop even following treatment for COVID-19 is finished.
The government will start a large-scale investigation from the end of next month to determine the reality of the followingeffects of the so-called ‘long covid’.

The National Institutes of Health, affiliated with the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, open an open call for a ‘corona 19 sequelae research project’ and will begin full-scale research from the end of next month.
A total of KRW 21.6 billion will be invested over 4 years, including KRW 10.3 billion for clinical trials and KRW 2.1 billion for big data.
The subject is 10,000 confirmed cases, including children, and will be followed up for up to 3 years.
The goal is to analyze the sequelae pattern through the investigation and to find out risk factors such as underlying diseases that affect it.
Through this, we plan to prepare guidelines for the management of sequelae and to use them in future infectious diseases.
Long covid is defined as a case that begins within 3 months of the onset of COVID-19, has symptoms for at least 2 months, and is not explained by another diagnosis.
Usually, sequelae recover in a short time, but regarding 20% of patients are said to experience symptoms in the mid- to long-term.
As the cumulative number of COVID-19 infections exceeds 10 million, the number of people complaining of pain has increased, raising the need for systematic research.
