Guardians of the Galaxy screenwriter joins Bioware

After almost 15 years at Eidos Montreal, Mary DeMarle has just joined Bioware. According to his Profile LinkedIn, she will collaborate within the studio as Senior Narrative Director. What she has achieved in the past makes her a reference in the world of video games.

Among other things, there is a noteworthy participation in major franchises such as Myst or Deus Ex. More recently, she worked on the game Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy, which achieved critical acclaim. The latter, for example, received an award specifically recognizing the work of Mary DeMarle, since it is the award for best storytelling at the Game Awards last year.

This recruitment comes in a particular context for Eidos Montreal. The Embracer group has, in fact, reached an agreement in May to acquire major studios including Eidos. As a reminder, Embracer Group owns many studios such as Gearbox Software (Half-Life, Borderlands).

Bioware therefore pulls off a nice coup by obtaining the services of the renowned screenwriter. In her post on Linked-In, Mary DeMarle does not give any details as to the game on which she will be able to work within the studio. Some ongoing projects, such as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf or a new one Mass Effectmight need his expertise.
