This was announced by the company through a statement on its website.
“The satellite on which it is supporting its subscription broadcast service – satellite TV – will no longer be available, which implies the end of this line of business at the end of 2022,” the company said.
He added that “during the month of April of last year (2021), Telefónica signed an agreement with the Hispasat company that allowed the provision of this service in the country to be extended, however, the definitive deactivation of the satellite was confirmed for December of this year. ».
They affirm that they are currently «traveling a path that seeks long-term sustainability, through innovation and digitization for the benefit of all social and productive sectors that are leveraged with our platforms. What is happening with DTH satellite television is a response to this necessary digital transition towards more advanced and efficient technologies».
They clarified that for more than two years Movistar has maintained the management of the TV service only for existing clients, in this period 44% have migrated to other audiovisual content options existing in the market.
They remain in the country with mobile telephony, internet and corporate digital services.
