Wimbledon (UK) (AFP) – French Armonie Tan, ranked 115th in the world, continued her adventure in the English Wimbledon Championships, the third Grand Slam in tennis, and reached the final price by defeating Britain’s Katie Poulter 6-1, 6-1 Saturday in the third round.
Tan, who ousted American veteran Serena Williams, who has 23 major titles, including seven in the English championship, in the first round, will meet one of my last compatriots, Coco Gauff, 12th or Amanda Anisimova, 25th.
“The longer the matches go on, the better I feel. I really enjoy playing on the grass,” said the 24-year-old Tan, who is playing her first major grasscourt tournament in her professional career.
Tan imposed her preference over the course of the match once morest Poulter, the 118th in the world, and participated in a wild card, and she became the second French player to reach the final price of the current edition following Caroline Garcia on Friday.
Tan has never crossed three rounds in a WTA tournament and the second round of a Grand Slam (Australia 2022 and Roland Garros 2021).
