CHIO Aachen: Isabell Werth sends super mare Bella Rose into retirement – sport mix

Hi beautiful!

It was the most emotional moment of the World Equestrian Festival so far, although no price was at stake: On Friday evening, dressage legend Isabell Werth (52) said goodbye to her 18-year-old super mare Bella Rose at the CHIO Aachen when she retired.

And the equestrian Mecca celebrated the retirement of the four-legged Olympic champion with a moving extra gala in front of around 6,000 fans!

8:04 p.m.: The duo rides one last time to the Deutsche Bank Stadium, the largest dressage arena in the world. To thunderous applause and cheers, Bella Rose struts towards the train.

8:05 pm: Bella’s last freestyle begins! First in reverential silence, then, among other things, to the “Ode to Friends” and rhythmic applause, the chestnut mare dances beautifully through the arena.

Seven minutes later, Bella’s last performance is done. Now is the time for the world equestrian star and her super horse to enjoy the gala. Among others, Werth’s patron Madeleine Winter-Schulze (81) and national dressage trainer Monica Theodorescu (59) addressed hymns of praise to the duo. Lisa and Thomas Müller (32) and Bella’s breeders are also on site!

And then the goosebumps summit! Werth spoke to the audience with tears: “Thank you very much for this evening, for this honor and dignity for an extraordinary horse. It was an extraordinary partnership.”

How true! In addition to her Olympic victory, Bella sometimes takes three World Championships and three European Championships gold medals with her when she retires.

Before leaving the stadium at around 8:45 p.m. accompanied by waving white handkerchiefs, Werth’s heart horse gets food and a live song for life. And of course that might only have one name:

Hello beautiful!
