Noh Seung-yeol (31) tied for 24th in the second round of the John Deere Classic ($7.1 million in prize money) on the PGA Tour.
In the second round of the tournament held at TPC Dearren (par 71, 7,289 yards) in Silvis, Illinois, USA on the 2nd (Korean time) on the 2nd (Korean time), Roh Seung-yeol hit a 5-under 66 with 6 birdies and 1 bogey.
Noh Seung-yeol, who scored 6-under 136 in the interim, moved up the ranking from T-47 the previous day to T-24 and turned around the turning point of the tournament.
Although it is 9 strokes away from JT Poston (USA), who took the lead alone with a 15-under 127 stroke, it opens up the possibility of entering the upper ranks by three strokes from the 9-under par, a tie for the 7th place.
Noh Seung-yeol, who won the Zurich Classic once in April 2014, appeared in 17 competitions in the 2021-2022 season, but never finished in the top 10. His best performance of the season is tied for 30th at the Bermuda Championship last October.
The John Deere Classic is a great opportunity for Noh Seung-yeol to get good results as the top rankers fall in large numbers to prepare for the Scottish Open and The Open in Europe starting next week.
Poston, who recorded a 15-under par, shot 11-under 131 with a four-shot win over Danny McCarthy (USA), the second-placed individual, and inflated his chances of winning two in three years since the Wyndham Championship in August 2019.
Kyung-Joo Choi (52) missed the cut with a 1-under par 141, and Sung-Hoon Kang (35) shot a 4-over par 146. Even players who hit 3-under made it to the third round.
