The release of Sea of Stars, the promising retro RPG from the makers of The Messenger, has been delayed. Developer Sabotage posted a message saying he just wants to polish the adventure as much as possible without cutting staff.
While the delay is unfortunate, the team’s commitment to work-life balance can be appreciated. The idea of getting a demo this year is certainly tempting, as Sea of Stars looks phenomenal.
The game was first introduced in 2020 following a successful Kickstarter campaign and is reminiscent of classic JRPGs such as Chrono Trigger, Illusion of Gaia and Breath of Fire. The game even features music composed by Chrono Trigger composer Yasunori Mitsuda.
Sea of Stars serves as a prequel to The Messenger, an action game inspired by Ninja Gaiden that was well received by gamers. The role-playing game will tell regarding two heroes who wield the power of the moon and the sun and must fight an evil alchemist.
Now Sea of Stars will be released in 2023.
