The departure of Sammy Mahdi for the presidency of the CD&V saw the arrival, somewhat surprised, of Nicole De Moor, his former chief of staff as Secretary of State for Asylum and Immigration.
As a reminder, Molenbeek and the State Secretariat for Asylum and Immigration are currently in open war over the Sebrechts home, where 421 asylum seekers are currently staying, without the municipality having given its consent.
Asked Wednesday evening in the municipal council regarding her relationship with Nicole De Moor, Catherine Moureaux conceded that she did not see this new interlocutor with a very good eye. “The chief of staff today Secretary of State told several speakers that I had said yes (concerning the authorization to set up a reception center at home Sebrechts, Editor’s note). I never said yes. I realized followingwards, and I talked regarding it with my college, that I would no longer go to the Secretary of State. They will just have to come. We will always see each other with a series of witnesses. I no longer trust these people. It’s quite dramatic to feel despised in this way by the Federal State.”
It turns out that Nicole De Moor would have actively participated in the debates concerning the management of the Sebrechts home. For its part, the office of the new Secretary of State affirms that this entry into office will not change anything in the position of the federal State on the file.
