Andre Drummond leaves for Chicago for 2 years and 6.6 million dollars

Looking for a reinforcement for his racquet, Chicago has set his sights on Andre Drummond. The two-time All-Star has signed a 2-year, $6.6 million contract to join Windy City.

It’s a decision that will not come as a surprise, but Andre Drummond will therefore leave Brooklyn a few months following his trade from Philadelphia. At the end of March, the interior had already explained half-word that his move to the Big Apple would only last a few months and he therefore associated words with deeds from the start of the Free Agency. Direction Chicago, where he should play the back-ups of Nikola Vucevic in the paint. Adrian WojnarowskiESPN confirmed that the player had signed a two-year contract for $6.6 million. Note that Drummond will be able to test the market once more in a year because its second season is a player option.

On paper, it’s a flashy signing of course because Drummond remains one of the best rebounders in the League, a player who is effective under the circle and a big double-double machine. Unfortunately, he still seems to have been on a downward slope for two seasons, the fault of a defense that is still as suspicious and at his limits as soon as he moves away from the circle in attack. Walked from franchise to franchise since his forced departure from the Pistons, Dédé therefore offers himself yet another challenge with a contender at a very light price. The boy saw himself getting a max deal two years ago and he’s taking 6 million over two years today, paying for your leap in terms of value. Next to that, the choice of the Bulls may seem a bit surprising since some insiders announced that Chicago was aiming for a defensive profile to replace Nikola Vucevic. Vooch is not perfect in his half of the field but it is not Drummond who will raise the defensive rating. Rob Schaefer from NBC Sports Chicago indicated that the Bulls dug into their mid-level exception to pay Dede and that the rest of the MLE might be used to recover a certain Danilo Gallinari, recently cut in San Antonio. Business is far from over on the Windy City side.

Andre Drummond comes to strengthen the Chicago racket! A rookie of choice for the Bulls but a profile that remains surprising in relation to the defensive needs in the racket. Will Arturas Karnisovas still move his pawns?
