Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich) wants to leave. But Munich have no intention of letting go.
Another rejection FC Barcelona sent their third offer to Munich for Lewandowski, but this time they were completely ignored.
ESPN reported on the 1st (Korean time) that “Barcelona made a third offer of more than 40 million euros (regarding 54.1 billion won) for Lewandowski, but there was no response from Munich.” The previous two proposals were said to have fallen short of €40 million.
Lewandowski officially requested a transfer in May, saying, “For sure, my story with Munich is over. A transfer will be the best solution for everyone.”
Barcelona are keen to sign Lewandowski. Manager Xavi Hernandez wanted a striker and made Lewandowski his top priority. However, as Lewandowski’s contract with Munich still had one year left and Munich’s consent was needed, Munich rejected even the third offer from Barcelona.
“We are not aware of any new proposals, but Munich are in the position that Barcelona do not need to continue making other proposals,” said Uli Hoeness, Munich’s honorary chairman. “I do not make a decision, but Munich’s position is clear. It has to be done,” he emphasized.
Lewandowski is the best striker in the world. In 2014, he moved to Bayern Munich from Borussia Dortmund in the German Bundesliga, winning eight consecutive seasons. During his eight seasons with Bayern Munich, he scored 344 goals in 375 appearances, including being the top scorer six times. He also scored 35 goals (league) in the 2021-2022 season, the most in Europe’s top five leagues.
Lewandowski also wants Barcelona. He was recently photographed meeting Xavi while on vacation in Spain.
