magic point is a restaurant Guadalajara which turns out to be a complete and immersive experience in the world of the popular wizard Harry Potterin which in addition to enjoying delicious dishes there are dynamics, games and surprises for children and adults.
This restaurant arrived in Guadalajara almost five years ago as an initiative to offer something different, unique and complete, with food and entertainment for the whole family.
Although its facade can be misleading, because at first glance it seems like a very small place, actually houses a whole world inside, a magical world in which, at the moment of crossing the entrance, the assistants become sorcerers and the experience begins.
“We saw the opportunity to bring it to Guadalajara, there was none when it opened more than four and a half years ago, and we saw the opportunity to offer them a differentiated space, a thematic space and precisely with this more theatrical touch that they not only came to eat, but that they live a complete experience since they arrive, we break that wall a little bit, if they came stressed by work or by a family argument, as soon as they arrive here we call them sorcerers and we break that barrier and offer a pleasant time, “he explained in an interview for Milenio Pedro Rivera , general manager of Punto Mágico.
Upon arriving at the site located on La Paz avenue and almost Chapultepec, it is Dobby who receives them, as well as a complete set with the flying Ford Anglia and Hedwig, the owl and Potter’s magical companion to take the souvenir photograph, this only at the entrance. since inside there are even more spaces to see and photograph.
“We have photographic sets, in this main branch we have the Pensieve, in all the spaces you can take a souvenir photo too, there is a store with some souvenirs of some original products of the magical saga that you can buy and several that are on display we have official replicas that we brought to complement the setting,” he said.
The creative process and decoration of the place was conceived by the partners’ own ideas, some of whom share their love for the world of the popular magician, that is why they stick as closely as possible to the magical saga and It features original horcrux replicas, such as Tom Riddle’s Diary and Helga Hufflepuff’s Cup.
“It was the union of several people, we began to plan the concept and we all contributed a little so that this would come to life, the idea was to be something very deserved so that people would feel like a completely magical space as soon as they arrived, we did not have a consultancy as such It was the creativity of several people seeking to offer a magical experience,” he said.
In addition, the activities and dynamics to be carried out inside are diverse, from trivia, contests, the selection of the hat, the challenge of flavored pills (mucus, vomit, rotten eggs, some), 100 Magi Said, among others such as the visit of Lord Voldemort every Saturday.
“We involve dynamics, games, contests and on Saturdays Lord Voldemort visits us and takes pictures with the sorcerers, the idea is an experience in which they arrive and forget regarding the real world to live this world and environment full of magic”, he said .
The Magic Point experience is complemented by food ranging from nachos with troll meat, Forbidden Forest baguette, Dragon’s Breath, as well as steaming drinks and the classic and favorite butter beer, it should be noted that one of the biggest challenges It has been the constant change and renewal of dishes and flavors so that each time there is something new on the menu that also has options for people who do not eat meat.
“We have very delicious dishes, very cool drinks, our main ones are steaming potions, butter beer and the idea is that they come and enjoy a good time, eat well and be part of this experience.
“The main challenge was to reinvent ourselves, whether in image, if in decoration, but mainly in flavors, so every so often we have new launches, we kept improving until our brand executive chef arrived, who is in charge of constantly creating new flavors. and it is with what we achieve stability, we have excellent very dynamic drinks, very innovative, very visual, but also very tasty and high quality food, we improve all processes and it is a constant evolution year following year and that has been one of the challenges to adapt and always offer something better to the customer so that with each visit they see something new or try a new flavor”, he explained.
It was during the coronavirus pandemic that Punto Mágico, which is already a benchmark for national and international tourism, also became that restaurant that was worth going out for and although it was not easy they managed to stay current and even reinvent themselves and open a new branch. , much larger and with more attractions; Grand Magic Point on Chapultepec Avenue.
“We managed to get out precisely because we are a different place from the others in terms of people starting to go out, you were looking for it to be worth it, if you are going to take the risk of going out, you wanted to go to a different place, so that’s when Punto Mágico recovered a lot of strength obviously already with this constant evolution and when people return following the pandemic issue they find a place that not only survived but also improved and grew”, said the manager.
In the parent branch (in La Paz), being smaller, it turns out to be a much more immersive space, while in Punto Mágico Grand, what was sought was to make a concept more focused on contests, games, and stage projects with robotic lighting and effects. specials in which there is also a breakfast buffet that includes access to Magicus, a themed show that combines magic with the performing arts.
“It was to offer growth, if here we already made games and dynamics, make them bigger there, if we had characterizations and show double there, from there the idea of Magicus arises, a show that combines aerial acrobatics, special effects and performing arts with a buffet breakfast, it is a show that although it is inspired by the magical saga, it is a story that everyone can understand and will have fun”, he concluded.
It should be noted that these spaces, although they are a meeting point for Harry Potter fans, in which, in addition to occasional larger activities such as cosplay contests, anyone, whether or not they know the world of the wizard, can enjoy the attractions. and live a different experience.
