Affected by the tropical cyclone gradually forming in the central part of the South China Sea, the Observatory expects that the weather in Hong Kong will change significantly from today, the wind will gradually strengthen and the showers will increase. It is expected that the tropical depression will intensify into a tropical storm tomorrow (July 1), named as “Siamba”, Hong Kong will have strong winds tomorrow, with squally showers and thunderstorms. Members of the public are advised to bring rain gear when going out and pay attention to the latest weather information from the Observatory.

The weather in Hong Kong has been extremely hot and sunny for the past few days. The Observatory pointed out yesterday evening that the tropical depression in the central part of the South China Sea has entered within 800 kilometers of Hong Kong, and will intensify into a tropical cyclone, and will generally move towards the western coast of Guangdong to Hainan Island in the next two to three days; and the northern part of the South China Sea and southern China Coastal winds are gradually increasing, and there are swells in the sea. The associated outer rainbands will also bring unstable weather to Hong Kong. It will be mostly cloudy today with a few showers, frequent showers and squally thunderstorms. The temperature will drop to 27 to 31 degrees; the temperature will further drop to 26 degrees tomorrow. To 30 degrees, there will be squally showers and thunderstorms. Affected by the active southerly air flow, the weather along the coast of Guangdong is expected to remain unstable next week. According to the weather forecast, there will be rainy weather in Hong Kong in the coming week. The tropical depression has entered a range of 800 kilometers from Macau. The Macau Meteorological Bureau issued the No. 1 typhoon at 7 o’clock last night. It is predicted that it will intensify into a tropical storm today, and it is expected to be upgraded to a severe tropical storm on July 2.
