While Guatemala is immersed in a fifth hello of Covid-19 infections that is expected to be aggressive and prolonged, the authorities of the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (MSPAS) indicated that they are still in the process of negotiating to acquire pediatric vaccines.
At a press conference it was revealed that the negotiation is being done directly with the Covax mechanism of the World Health Organization (WHO), because immunizers for children 4 to 6 years old can only be purchased under this modality.
The intention is to buy just over 1 million doses (1,074,000), but they are still waiting for the date of entry of the immunizers to be confirmed.
In addition, they indicated that an investment of 125 million quetzales is expected for this purchase and that Pfizer pediatric brand vaccines will be purchased.
