If at the time of its announcement, The Callisto Protocol had not been noticed too much, now, since the title was the star of the last State of Play, it continues to be talked regarding. Moreover, today, we learn that the game will be even more gory than Dead Space.
Always more hemoglobins
It’s been a few weeks now The Callisto Protocol, the next horrifying proposition, is the center of attention. It must be said that the game surprised everyone by presenting itself as the worthy heir to the emblematic Dead Space during the last conferences… Between ghost ship, dark and narrow corridors, frightening monsters and atrocious deaths, the title takes up a lot of its mentor. Nothing really surprising since the horror game is a product signed Glen Schofield, one of the fathers of Dead Space. Moreover, today, the developer came back to his new baby during an interview with EuroGamer to tell us something that we easily imagined: The Callisto Protocol sera encore plus gore que Dead Space.
There are some pretty awful times, it’s true. We built Gore technology and (…) no matter how you go there are pieces that come off or parts of the face, the head. It’s so advanced compared to Dead Space. Glen Schofield, Director of The Callisto Protocol
To bring such realism, we learn that the developers surrounded themselves with “horrible” images that they found on the internet; a process that is not really new since it was already the case for Dead Space.
Nowadays, the internet is filled with such kind of pictures. I mean these guys were watching horrible stuff. It’s hard to tell now with the internet. Is it true or is it false? Either way, there are horrible things, like photos of people being shot. We have collected this data. Glen Schofield
The Callisto Protocol was born in a desert
For the little anecdote of the day, know that The Callisto Protocol was born in an Arizona desert; at least that’s what Glen Schofield said. Indeed, following overseeing two major projects on behalf of Activision, namely Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Call of Duty: WW2, the creator has decided to take a little well-deserved break. It was during the latter that he began to put in place ideas for a certain Meteor Down which today, by force of circumstance, has become The Callisto Protocol.
I went there and decided to draw in the desert. I went to the desert – much to the chagrin of the players – and just sat down to draw. And at the same time, I found ideas. I focused on some of them day by day and then they got bigger and bigger. After a few weeks, I had seven, eight, nine ideas. And this one was not called The Callisto Protocol, but Meteor Down. Then it got pretty big, you know… Glen Schofield
As a reminder, The Callisto Protocol is expected for December 2, 2022 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
