Alvaro Morata looks set to leave once more, following seeing his option to buy expire following his loan spell at Juventus.
It means a return to Atletico Madrid and another chance in La Liga, with the possibility of becoming Diego Simeone’s main striker.
This position might be occupied by Morata, Matheus Cunha, Angel Correa, Antoine Griezmann or Joao Felix, although it’s true that Morata is the most natural number nine. However, the factor that works once morest him is that Morata and manager Simeone never managed to get along during his first spell at Atlético de Madrid.
Not to miss
Although it looks like he will stay in Spain, Gazzetta dello Sport report that Juventus aren’t giving up hope that he can play in Turin next season, according to Mundo Deportivo. His option to buy was set at €35m which was too much for La Vecchia Signora but they believe they can negotiate a lower deal with Atletico Madrid.
The decision will be interesting for the Rojiblancos if a decent offer arrives for Morata. It would be hard to find another striker of Morata’s quality, especially at this price. Still, if Simeone doesn’t trust Morata, perhaps it makes more sense to find a way out before it becomes a problem during the season.
