Dreams do not offer the possibility of reading or even of writing, even if exceptions exist according to the profiles.
For people who manage to keep a memory of their dreams, a constant can be imposed: no character can be deciphered during these dreams. It is also true that even by looking at an object, the latter may take on another appearance the next time it appears in our field of vision. It is a reality: most of the time, dreams do not offer the possibility of reading and even of writing.
Inability to read while dreaming: because less active brain regions
There is a reason why reading and writing are not readily available activities in dreams. This is because Broca’s area and Wernicke’s area, the regions of the brain governing the aforementioned functions, are less active during sleep.
Exceptions for some people
Everyone is not equal in front of their dreams. Some people are thus able to shape dreams that are richer than others due to their ability to read, write and even speak. How are these elected officials different? Quite simply by a professional activity or a vocation involving a large amount of reading, writing and linguistic creativity. Clearly, when they are awake, these people put a lot of strain on the regions of the brain concerned, so that these areas are strengthened. And when the time comes to surrender to Morpheus, the brain is already so trained that the effort required to express itself in dreams is ultimately less than for other dreamers.
