The Islamic world depends on the vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the crescent of Eid al-Adha, as it is the only country entrusted with the sighting of the crescent, as it bears the responsibility of starting the rituals of Hajj (the fifth pillar of Islam) on its lands, and the associated sacred rituals such as the pilgrimage to the House of God in Arafat.

The official website of the Umm al-Qura calendar expected that the month of Dhu al-Hijjah would begin on Thursday, June 30, 2022, with a stand on Mount Arafa on July 8, and Eid al-Adha on July 9, 2022 AD.

As for the official account of the Majmaah University Astronomical Observatory in Hotat Sudair in Saudi Arabia, it expected the central conjunction to occur on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, and therefore the beginning of the month of Dhul-Hijjah will be on Thursday, June 30.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Misnad, a professor of climate at Qassim University, formerly the head of the committee for naming the distinctive climatic conditions in Saudi Arabia, “Tasamiyat”, revealed the astronomical expected date of Eid Al-Adha 2022.

He said: On Tuesday, June 28, the moon will set at 06:48 pm, while the sun will set at 07:07 pm, adding: “Therefore, the sunset of the moon will precede sunset by 19 minutes, then there is no crescent on the horizon to be seen according to The horizon of Makkah Al-Mukarramah.. This is followed by the occurrence of the conjunction between the moon and the sun at 05:52 am on Wednesday, June 29, followed by the birth of the crescent of Dhul-Hijjah.

He continued: “Wednesday is the completion, and the crescent of Dhul-Hijjah will stay on Wednesday evening in the horizon of Mecca for 32 minutes,” explaining that on Thursday, June 30, the first month of Dhul-Hijjah, and on Friday, July 8, standing in Arafat, and Saturday, July 9, is the first day of Eid al-Adha. .
