Boston (dpa) – The Bayer Group is putting a new center for cancer research into operation in the USA. At the site in Boston-Cambridge in the US state of Massachusetts, the development of novel targeted cancer therapies is to be advanced, as the Dax group announced on Wednesday at the opening of the building.
Bayer wants to become a leading supplier of cancer drugs in the coming years. The company had therefore let the construction of the new research center for so-called molecular precision oncology cost a total of 140 million US dollars. Now a newly founded research team is to start work in the laboratories.
According to the information, Bayer will initially start there with a workforce of 100, and according to a spokeswoman the number of jobs will increase to 150 by the middle of next year. With Boston, the group is strengthening its presence in an important innovation center of the biotech industry – many of Bayer’s partners also work there, it said.
