Korean tennis legend Lee Hyung-taek (46) will take over as the manager of the men’s professional tennis team.
According to Sports Seoul on the 29th, Lee Hyung-taek was selected as the coach of the Orion men’s tennis team, which will be announced in regarding two weeks.
Lee Hyung-taek won the men’s singles round of 16 at the US Open in 2000 and the Adidas International men’s singles event on the ATP tour in 2003, and climbed to No. 36 in the world rankings.
Lee Hyung-taek, who was appointed as the vice president of the Korea Tennis Association last year but gave up and focused on broadcasting, is currently working as a commentator for SPOTV, which broadcasts Wimbledon 2022.
In 2015, Hyung-taek Lee exclusively coached prospect Hong Seong-chan and ran tennis academies in Korea and the United States to provide individual coaching, but this is the first time he has taken over as a tennis team coach.
The Orion tennis team will be headed by Jeon Young-dae (62), former vice president of the Korea Tennis Association (Executive Executive), a former coach of Konkuk University and national team, and Kim Seon-yong, bronze medalist in men’s doubles at the Doha Asian Games, as coach. As players, promising players such as Kim Jang-jun (15, Syncron Academy) and Lee Hae-sun (19, Yanggu High School) are expected to join.
It is known that Orion will hold a founding ceremony as soon as Kim Jang-joon, who is participating in an overseas competition, returns to Korea.
