Elements of the show in the new issue of “Theater”

Issued by the Department of Culture in Sharjah, Issue 34 of the monthly “Theater” magazine, which includes a variety of articles, reports, letters and angles on the phenomena and demonstrations of Arab theater.
The “entrance” section was devoted to a survey on the impact of the “Theatrical Show Elements” session that precedes each new session of the Kalba Festival for Short Plays, on the occasion of the launch of its ninth edition in mid-July. The section also included coverage of the tour that a delegation from the Department of Culture, headed by the Director of Theater Department, made to the GCC countries to invite their teams to participate in the fourth session of the Sharjah Gulf Theater Festival, next February.
In Spotlight, there are views of playwrights from Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Iraq, Lebanon, Sudan and Algeria, on the contribution of festivals to the promotion of Arab theater.
In “Readings,” we read Ahmed Khamis’s article: “The Maker of Joy: Who Forgets Najib Al-Rihani?” regarding the new show by director Nasser Abdel Moneim, and Al-Hussam Mohi El-Din’s reading: “Sit Al-Dunya: Beirut’s Story between Two Times,” regarding the monodramatic show he recently directed. Hisham Jaber, under the title: “Al-Madaq Alley: Mahfouz’s Novel as a Dramatic Theatre,” wrote Bassem Sadek regarding the play directed by Adel Abdo, and Ibrahim Al-Husseini’s article “Love in the Time of Cholera: Drama of Eternal Love” came regarding the Egyptian theater by the Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez’s novel, which It was signed by the director Said Mansi.
The “Hewar” section celebrated the theatrical project of the pioneering director and actor Tawfiq Jebali, who is considered one of the most prominent makers of the contemporary Tunisian theater scene, through an interview with Siham Akil.
In Sorouh, Lama Tayara discussed the historical and cultural symbolism of Al-Qabbani Theater in Damascus. In “Asfar”, Mahmoud Al-Halawani recounted scenes from his trip to the Sharjah theatrical days in 2014.
In “Visions”, Safaa Gharsali dealt with the experience of treatment with drama and theatrical techniques, and Ahmed Sbayaa explored the history of Moroccan women’s access to the theater.
Under the title: “Individual Theatre: A Brief History of Monodrama,” Omar Al-Ruwaidi wrote in the “Readings” section regarding a book by Taher Al-Taweel, while Mahmoud Saeed dealt in the same section with the play “Burning Darkness” by the Spanish writer Antonio Vallejo.
In “Minbar”, we read by Fatima Al-Mazrouei: “The world is a theater”, by Sami Al-Jamaan: “a sense of theater”, by Muhammad Al-Rubi “theater is life”, and by Abdul Karim Bershid: “The Object, the Possible and the Impossible.”
