In Boveresse NE, two young men lost their lives in a traffic accident on Tuesday night. The fatalities are two men aged 19 and 21 who live in the area.
The two had apparently previously wanted to evade a police check. A patrol wanted to check a vehicle in Fleurier that was driving towards Boveresse at high speed, the Neuchâtel cantonal police said on Tuesday. However, the police quickly lost sight of the car due to the high speed – so the men presumably fled from the patrol.
Shortly therefollowing, a resident of the area informed the emergency call center regarding a fire below the cantonal road. At the scene of the fire, it was determined that the vehicle in question had been engulfed in flames. The driver and a passenger were dead near the crashed vehicle. Prosecutors have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of this accident. (SDA/dzc)
