On his new album “Wos was i”, Max Hauer, alias Cler, sings regarding places and institutions of Viennese and Austrian life in a casual, relatively non-snarky way. The “Optimist’s Grave”, the Zuckerlgschäft (yes, yes, the children) or the Wöduntagång – which, as is well known, is best experienced in Vienna. And a habit that cannot be expressed better than in words: “Wos waß i wos i ma dåcht håb”!
The show threatens to only stand for his own accompaniment. The seven musicians and the musician of the Grätzlorchester ensure a velvety, juicy, rich sound, in contrast to Cler’s sometimes resigned and laconic presentation.
The Berlin bluegrass band St. Beaufort has only three members and proves how dense sound can be produced with other, comparatively simple means. On their third album Those Windows, Henric Hungerhoff from Germany, Joe Jakubczyk from the USA and Tomás Peralta González from Chile tell, among other things, regarding being on the move and the stories and relationships that arise from it. The path seems to have led her to Vienna at one point.
