When does Line 1 of the CDMX Metro close? These are the dates

“It is a necessary work, we might not do it and leave things as they are but Line 1 of the Metro is 53 years old, a renovation process should have been started for more than 10 years.

“It will have effects on users, although we are trying to keep them minor, but the fundamental objective is to reduce the risks and deliver a fully modern Metro Line 1,” he said at a press conference.

When will Line 1 close and for how long?

The closure will take place in two stages, from July this year to August 2023, said Guillermo Calderón, general director of the Metro.

The first stage will be from this month from July to March 2023 in the section that goes from Pantitlán to Salto del Agua for a total of eight months; while the second phase of the closure will be from March to August 2023 from Balderas to the Observatory, that is, six months.

The official explained that this is necessary since the Line 1 systems have a useful life of 40 years and this has been exceeded, since it has been operating for regarding 53 years.
