The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, is the president of Latin America with the greatest fortune, according to information shared by the specialized site Bloomberg Line.
The publication consists of a registry with information referring to the patrimony of several Heads of State of the aforementioned region, which positions Abinader in first place on the list, almost doubling the wealth of the president who occupies the second position.
For this study, the journalist from Bloomberg Line, Dolfi Gómez García, referred to the affidavit of assets de Abinader, deposited in September 2020, where the Dominican politician reported assets that exceed 76 million dollars (or RD$4,396 million pesos).
That document indicates that Abinader owns an apartment worth RD$35.4 million pesos; another 31 million for jewelry and watches; 2.9 million in audiovisual equipment, and another 15 million pesos in works of art.
In household appliances it reported 14.6 million pesos and in household furniture another 23.4 million, in addition to having declared a residence of 78.4 million pesos.
Also, in a miscellaneous income section the president reported 70 million 200 thousand pesos for an administration trust.
Similarly, it reported five vehicles, the most expensive of all being the Tesla car, valued at 6.8 million pesos; two 2017 Ford SUVs, Escape model, valued at RD$1,618,032; a Chevrolet truck for RD$1,167,224, and a jeep, also of this brand, for RD$1,589,638.
About the inheritances received, the Head of State claimed to have received the amount of RD$393,085,047 from his deceased fatherJosé Rafael Abinader Wasaf, while his father-in-law Elías Arbaje Farah received RD$3,267,484.
He also assured that he has a large part of his capital invested in shares of various companies that exceed RD$3,600 million pesos, distributed among companies such as Imer, SA, O&M SAS and Estrella Corporation.

Abinader is followed in the list by his counterpart from Ecuador, Guillermo Lassowho according to his affidavit of assets last year has a fortune of around US$39.7 million.
Then there is the president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, with just over US$2.5 million; Mario Abdo Benitez, Parauay, US$953,973; Jair Bolsonaro, Brazil, US$446,152; Luis Lacalle Pou, Uruguay, US$385,990; Luis Arce, Bolivia, US$358,916; Ivan Duque, Colombia, US$358,113.
Equally Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega appears in the registry with US$217,844; Mexican Andrés Manuel López Obrador, US$80,626; Argentina’s Alberto Fernández, US$46,190; Chilean Gabriel Boric, US$36,956; and the Peruvian Pedro Castillo, US$22,342.
