Bad breath affects millions of people with many possible causes, but the vast majority of them are due to oral hygiene and attention to health.

and prepare bad breath A common problem that causes significant psychological distress, it can cause significant embarrassment and anxiety but is relatively easy to treat.

Anyone can suffer from bad breath. It is estimated that bad breath affects 1 in 4 people globally, or an estimated 25%.

Although bad breath is associated with certain diseases, the most common cause is poor oral hygiene, for example if food particles are left in the mouth, their decomposition by bacteria produces sulfur compounds.

Bad breath is the third most common reason for seeking dental care following tooth decay and gum disease, and the best treatment for it is regular brushing, flossing, and moisturizing.

Causes of bad breath

The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population said that it is necessary for everyone to take care to brush their teeth regularly to maintain their health and avoid bad breath.

The Ministry, in an awareness post on its Facebook page bearing the hashtag “Your Health_from_Your Mouth”, enumerated the causes of bad breath as follows:

Neglecting oral health.

Not taking care of the cleanliness of dentures.

– Dry mouth.

Tobacco and its derivatives.

Eat some foods such as garlic and onions.

Other causes such as digestive disorders, sinusitis and tonsillitis.

To avoid bad breath, the Ministry of Health advised citizens to pay attention to dental hygiene through:

1- Brushing your teeth with toothpaste immediately following eating

The official body advised that:

Change the brush every 3 months.

Change the toothpaste every once in a while.

Change the type of mouthwash every once in a while.

2- Use dental floss daily to remove food debris stuck between the teeth.

The Ministry presented the correct way to use dental floss as follows:

Cut off a portion of the medical thread.

Wrap one end of the thread on the middle finger of one hand, and the other end on the same finger of the other hand.

Move the floss up and down and don’t forget the rear molars.

Tighten the floss well and gently insert it between the teeth so as not to hurt the gums.

Bad breath and sinusitis

Some people are baffled that they do their best to get food out of their mouths, yet they still have this decomposition byproduct.

If bad breath is mixed with other symptoms, other parts of the ENT system may be behind it, usually sinusitis.

Bacteria spreads in these hard-to-reach places and sends colonies or secondary gases through your breath, and there are many conditions that can cause this type of persistent bad breath.

When an infection or allergy develops, the mucous passages and secretory tissues become inflamed, stopping the regular flow of mucus, and once this occurs bacteria can thrive on whatever material remains to be digested.

Many people may notice this effect when they wake up in the morning or when they finish exercising, and it becomes less noticeable following drinking a much-needed glass of water.

If you are experiencing upper respiratory symptoms and bad breath, it is best to consult a medical professional to see if a sinus infection is the cause.

To get rid of bad breath due to sinusitis, it is best to brush your teeth at least twice a day and with a fluoride toothpaste.
