Duke orders investigation and Petro asks to cancel corralejas

Duke ordered to investigate what happened in this locality, during the festivals of San Pedro and San Juan, following describing the tragedy as terrible, through social networks.

“We are sorry for the terrible tragedy recorded in El Espinal, Tolima, due to the collapse of boxes in a corraleja. We will ask for an investigation; speedy recovery to the injured and solidarity with the families of the victims,” he said.

Petro also regretted what happened and, for his part, requested the cancellation of this type of event in the country. “I hope that all the people affected by the collapse of the Plaza de El Espinal can get out of their wounds,” he said.

And he added: “This had already happened before in Sincelejo. I ask the mayors not to authorize more shows with the death of people or animals.

So far, it is known that there are four dead and hundreds of injured following the collapse of eight boxes in the Gilberto Charry bullring.

The materials with which it was built and its capacity to accommodate the number of people who gathered there during the festivities have been questioned.

Major Luis Fernando Vélez, director of the Civil Defense of Tolima, confirmed to Caracol Radio what happened, in addition to specifying that ambulances from various municipalities in the department support emergency care.
