Prince Charles of England has accepted suitcases and bags full of money as a donation from Hamad bin Yasim bin Jaber al Zaniformer prime minister of Qatar, as published by ‘The Sunday Times’.
According to the London newspaper, on one of the occasions, the Qatari leader offered the money, one million euros, in bags from the luxury food store Fortnum & Mason. The ‘Times’ ensures that Al Thani personally gave money to the Prince of Wales on up to three occasions.
In total, the three batches amounted to three million euros that were accepted personally by the British crown prince between 2011 and 2015, according to the newspaper.
The House of Clarence, official residence of Carlos and Camila, has rushed to clarify the facts. “The donations (…) were immediately handed over to one of the prince’s charitable organizationswhich are properly managed and have assured us that all the correct processes have been followed,” he explained.
The money went specifically to the accounts of the Prince of Wales Charity Fund (PWCF, for its acronym in English), which manages Charles’s private charity projects in Scotland.
