A first. L’regional health agency (ARS) of Corsica confirms, this Sunday evening through a press release sent to our editorial staff, the first case of monkeypox on the island. More commonly called “monkey pox“, the individual presenting “mild symptoms” was picked up a few days ago.
The ARS of Corsica indicates that it “is an adult with no history of travel to a country where the virus is circulating”.
For now, “His condition shows no signs of seriousness” says specialists.
An epidemiological investigation launched
The ARS of Corsica is thus carrying out, in cooperation with the teams of Public Health France, an in-depth epidemiological investigation “with the doctor who took care of this person”.
The press release also indicates that “People who have been in close contact with this patient have been identified” by the health authorities, who also informed them of the “information on what to do”.
Management measures have been put in place to minimize the spread of monkeypox on the island.
