Nearly three out of five northbound lanes were closed Saturday night on the Samuel-De Champlain Bridge toward Montreal following a vehicle struck a motorcyclist who was injured in the crash.

The collision occurred around 7:30 p.m. heading north when the motorcyclist was hit by the other vehicle, said Sûreté du Québec (SQ) spokesman Stéphane Tremblay.
The 60-year-old motorcyclist was taken to a hospital with minor injuries and his life is not in danger.

The driver of the car, also in his 60s, was arrested for driving while impaired by alcohol. He was brought to the station where it was established following a test that his alcohol level was twice the legal limit.

The man was released, but might face dangerous driving and alcohol-impaired driving charges.
A reconstructionist went to the scene to try to determine the circumstances of the event.
The lanes began to reopen around 10:30 p.m., while the Jacques Cartier Bridge is closed until 11:30 p.m. due to fireworks scheduled for Saturday evening in Montreal.
