Electronic visas to Morocco will be launched for certain key issuing countries from July 10, 2022, the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy announced on Thursday.

Three categories are affected by the e-visa, namely an evolving list of countries eligible for electronic visas including, initially, Israel and Thailand. It will know the progressive integration of several other countries, specifies a press release from the ministry.

It also concerns holders of residence cards from visa-free countries such as those in the Schengen area, in addition to Switzerland, Canada, England, and holders of Schengen visas or American visas, indicates the ministry.

Thanks to the launch of electronic visas, foreign tourists to Morocco will be able to complete all their formalities online and thus receive their visa by e-mail, the statement said.

The Minister of Tourism, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, noted in a press release that the visa is a determining criterion in the choice of a destination. “Through electronic visas, Morocco becomes more competitive on the international scene,” she said, taking this opportunity to thank the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for this record achievement, which was among the main requests from the profession.

This action reinforces those already undertaken by the Ministry of Tourism through its supervisory bodies, in terms of promoting Morocco as a destination, multiplying air links and diversifying the tourist offer. The objective is to create a positive tourist experience, from the visa application to the tourist stay, notes the press release.

Incentives for prosperous international tourism are multiplying. After the lifting of the PCR test obligation, it is the turn of the launch of electronic visas for certain key issuing countries, concludes the same source.
