Amid rumors that his time at NBC is up, Drew Brees on Sunday cited a return to the NFL as one of many possible next career moves.

Despite speculation from media regarding my future this fall, I’m currently undecided. I may work for NBC, I may play football once more, I may focus on business and philanthropy, I may train for the pickleball tour, senior golf tour, coach my kids or all of the above. I’ll let you know

Bree’s Twitter statement follows a report from the New York Post that the former New Orleans Saints quarterback is leaving NBC following a season as an analyst.

The 43-year-old retired from the NFL following the 2020 season. He worked in the NBC studio and occasionally in the booth for the past season.

Brees threw for 2,942 yards and 24 touchdowns with six interceptions in his final NFL season. He averaged just 7.5 yards per attempt and 245.2 yards per game, his lowest since 2005.

The Saints have reportedly approached the longtime passer regarding returning for the Week 16 game last season following their quarterbacks were virtually all inactive due to COVID-19 and injuries. Brees ultimately declined.

Saints head coach Dennis Allen told reporters Monday he believes Bree’s tweet was made in jest, adding that the team have not had any talks regarding a potential comeback.
