Painful defeat for Ercan Kara and Orlando City in Major League Soccer: At FC Cincinnati there is a 0-1 defeat for the ÖFB legionnaire.
In the first half, the hosts missed top chances to take the lead: In the 14th minute, the guests were lucky when keeper Gallese was spot on with a central Hagglund shot from ten meters and unpacked a brilliant act.
The goalkeeper excelled a second time when the defender headed free once more from a corner (39′).
After a change of sides, the goalkeeper gets even more work, a Vazquez header also remains his prey (52nd).
Gallese’s goal was all the more unfortunate: he deflected a rebound to the side where an opponent was waiting and put it down on Brenner – the Brazilian only had to put his foot down from two meters (64′).
Kara is substituted for Alexandre Pato just before the goal is conceded. He has 17 MLS season games, six goals and two assists.
Orlando doesn’t budge
Cincinnati, sixth in the Eastern Conference, ends a three-game winless streak and moves closer to Orlando City. In fourth place, Kara-Klub is still two points ahead of their youngest opponent, but has already played a game more. Only one of the last five was won.
The gap to the top is only two points, but all clubs before the Florida franchise have fewer games behind them – leader New York City even three. The advantage over the first non-playoff place, currently occupied by Christian Fuchs’ Charlotte FC, is five points more in one game.
The top seven teams in each conference qualify for the playoffs, with the conference winner going straight to the quarterfinals.
