An Uber driver in prison after the theft of a Ferrari in Eze

On March 8, at 1 a.m., a man ordered an Uber vehicle in Eze to join friends for an evening in Nice. When he leaves the bar around 3 a.m., he realizes that his bunch of keys has disappeared. On it is the remote control for his gate, the key to his apartment and that of his Ferrari… which also vanished.

The victim notifies the search brigade of the Menton gendarmerie. The vehicle was found the next day in Cagnes-sur-mer. It would have been slightly damaged. Gendarmerie criminal investigation technicians inspect the Ferrari. They identify two DNA profiles and a papillary trace.

Four young Cagnois arrested

The investigation allows the arrest of three men and a woman, aged around twenty and living in Cagnes-sur-mer. Among them, the Uber driver who had driven the victim in the evening. The owner of the Ferrari had quickly suspected him. He disputes the facts.

Tuesday, all appear in front of the criminal court of Nice, in the box of the prisoners. They are judged for theft or concealment of theft. The case will be tried at the end of July, the defense having requested a delay.

Prosecutor Ludovic Manteufel requests the provisional detention of the Uber driver, “who has a preponderant role in this file. He is the one who dragged his friends into this theft, even if he disputes it”. The court presided over by Christian Legay follows his requisitions and places the three other defendants under judicial supervision, with a ban on entering into contact with each other.
