After featuring a veiled woman in one of its visuals dedicated to preventive measures to be adopted in the face of high heat, the humanitarian organization the French Red Cross has been criticized in particular by right-wing political figures in France, according to rt .com.
The subject was a priori neutral: by publishing a series of messages devoted to “good reflexes” to have in order to protect themselves from the scorching temperatures which affect France, the Red Cross probably did not intend to trigger a controversy.
However, the presence of a woman wearing a veil on one of these visuals quickly heated the spirits, a series of personalities rising once morest a message perceived as an attack on secularism and a promotion of religious clothing.

“What is the message behind this poster? Would it very soon become the Red Crescent?” asked Jean-Michel Cadenas, member of the national council of the National Rally (RN), also accusing the Red Cross of promoting the Islamic veil.
