Al-Marsad newspaper: A new study, conducted on four nutritional supplements, namely collagen, ceramides, hyaluronan and procyanidin, revealed the ability of these supplements to enhance skin hydration, which contributes to making it more vibrant, fresh and less wrinkles.
The study, conducted by the researchers and published in Frontiers in Nutrition, concluded that the four supplements mentioned were “proven to be effective” in hydrating the skin.
“Instead of taking these supplements, you can look at your diet in general,” said nutrition consultant Kathy Siegel, noting that focusing on whole foods rich in nutrients is the best start when thinking regarding maintaining and restoring healthy skin.
Despite the benefits of these supplements, Dr. Lisa Young, a member of the National Council of Experts, cautioned regarding the long-term effects of these compounds, saying: “Eat a healthy diet, stay hydrated, and practice healthy skin hygiene. Supplements may help, but we do not know the long-term effects or interactions with drugs”.
