The Dominican accused of killing the NYPD police Arianna Reyes Gomez (also Dominican), told the authorities that a co-worker of hers was the one who asked him to kill her.
The 31-year-old Dominican died last Monday as a result of the thrusts that her ex-partner Argenis de Jesús Báez Pizano, 34, gave her following a heated discussion that occurred when he showed up at her apartment.
“He’s the one who told me to kill. The partner, it was he who told me to do this. He told me what to do. Look for him,” he said, adding, “I can’t believe he did this.”
These statements were revealed this Tuesday by the prosecutors working on the case. The data was offered by Assistant District Attorney David Birnbaum during Pizano’s arraignment in Bronx Criminal Court.
According to information revealed following the hearing to present charges in the Bronx prosecutor’s office, Argenis said that his ex-wife asked him to kill her and also told him what he had to do.
However, the defendant’s lawyer told the press that his client “has not said that.”
“My client has not told me that. That seems to come from third party information. My client didn’t point that out to me at all. In fact, he did not indicate that he made any statement to the police other than his name and that he is here to turn himself in,” said John Russo, the Dominican’s attorney.
The Dominican was remanded in custody without bail following turning himself in and being charged with murder for allegedly fatally stabbing Reyes Gómez in his Bronx apartment early Monday morning.
