a new boycott campaign in preparation, Akhannouch in the sights – Maghreb Intelligence

A new campaign to boycott petroleum products sold by several companies is being prepared in Morocco following the dizzying rise in fuel prices, a direct consequence of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

Exasperated by successive increases in the price of gasoline and diesel, activists have launched calls on social networks for a boycott of several companies, including Afriquia, which belongs to the group of Aziz Akhannouch, head of the Moroccan government.

The price of diesel above all crossed a historic threshold by approaching 16 dirhams per litre, while gasoline broke through the ceiling on Wednesday June 15, reaching nearly 18 DH/L.

Even more worrying, the professionals are planning new increases in the days to come, so that the liter of gasoline crosses the threshold of 20/L.

The government, through the voice of its treasurer, Nadia Fettah Alaoui, affirmed that it did not have the means to put its hand in its pocket and subsidize fuel.

The lifting of the subsidy and the establishment of free pricing were decided under the Islamist government of Abdelilah Benkirane.
