Citroën Ami Buggy: l’Ami façon Mehari

Attention, this Friend disguised as an adventurer will be produced in a very limited series, with only 50 copies. The price is steep for a friend!

At the end of 2021, Citroën presented le concept My Ami Buggy, an Friend ready for adventure. The model had the fittings of the good adventurer: big tires, protective grilles in front of the optics, spotlights on the roof…

It was a designer delirium, unveiled a few days before Christmas. But surprise, here is the serial version! Faced with “the success of the concept”, Citroën will indeed put this My Ami Buggies. Please note, this is an “Ultra Limited Edition”, a very limited edition: only 50 copies will be available for sale.

If the model on sale has a simplified look (no grilles for the optics or bluffe shield), it still has specific daring elements. Starting with doors removed! They are replaced by tubular gates, supermarket entrance style. Enough to enjoy driving with your hair in the wind. Especially since there is also a new sunroof, in the form of a rolling tarpaulin. This will bring back memories to those who have had a 2CV.

Citroën AMI testimonial: what is the small electric worth on a daily basis?

The My Ami Buggy takes up the khaki color of the concept. The 14 inch rims are gold. Some yellow stickers are visible on the bodywork. The yellow color is found inside, for the storage bins and the bag hook integrated into the dashboard. The vehicle receives floor mats with yellow edging and a separation net between the seats.

It is obviously a question of plumage and not of ramage, since the technical sheet does not change. There is therefore no second electric motor to have four-wheel drive like the 2CV Sahara! There’s still a 6kW small block and a 5.5kWh battery, giving a range of 75km.

As already said, only 50 vehicles will be on sale, from June 21 (12 p.m.) on the site dedicated to the Friend. And Citroën is loose on the price, set at €9,790!

Citroën AMI test: what autonomy for the electric license-free?

Author’s opinion

At nearly €10,000, I’d rather have an Ami with a more comfortable and better equipped cabin. Faced with more expensive electric cars without a license, this would be a new success for the model.
