For HM King Mohammed VI, Morocco’s action within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) must be one of solidarity and commitment in all the fundamental projects of the Organization, said on Tuesday in Rabat, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita.
During a joint press briefing with the Secretary General of the OIC, Hissein Brahim Taha, at the end of their talks, Mr. Bourita underlined the role and the importance granted by the Sovereign to this Organization born “by a commitment of Morocco”.
Morocco, on High Instructions from HM the King, gives its full support to the mandate of Hissein Brahim Taha at the head of the OIC, to his actions and his projects for the strengthening of the Organization, he said. , indicating that the Kingdom is willing to support the Secretary General in some actions so that the Organization can meet the challenges that are its own.
The regional and international context poses many of the challenges to the Islamic Umma, noted Mr. Bourita, considering that it is fundamental that the OIC, as an instrument and space for coordination between Muslim States, can be adapted and strengthened to meet and deal with these challenges.
Among these challenges, the Minister cited political instability, economic underdevelopment, attacks once morest Islam and Islamophobia which is spreading in several regions of the world, adding that the OIC has an important role to play in carry out its action.
He further affirmed that HM the King, as Chairman of the Al Quds Committee under the OIC, will continue to act with the same commitment in the defense of the Holy City.
Morocco, through the Bayt Mal Al Quds Agency, is a key player in strengthening the resistance of the Maqdessis and enabling them to preserve the historical, legal and Muslim character of the Holy City, the minister noted.
He, in this regard, noted that Morocco relies heavily on the General Secretariat of the OIC so that the Bayt Mal Al Quds Agency is an operational tool acting on the ground for the strengthening of the resistance of the Maqdessis in this city.
Within the Al Quds Committee, HM the King never ceased to recall Morocco’s position on the Palestinian cause; namely, the defense of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to their independent state within the framework of a vision of two states living side by side with a Palestinian state within the June 1967 borders with Al-Quds East as its capital, Mr. Bourita.
He also assured that Morocco is willing to share its experience and expertise with the OIC in several areas to enrich the cooperation programs that the Secretary General wishes to carry out and develop with the various components of the Organization. , including the African component.
The Minister, in this sense, argued that the model of religious cooperation between Morocco and African countries and some European countries can be a model of inspiration for the action that the OIC can carry out at the international level. (With MAP)
