Liverpool have reached an agreement with Benfica to sign Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez, the Portuguese club confirmed.
Benfica said the deal was made for 75 million euros (regarding 78 million dollars), and with other benefits amounting to 100 million euros (104 million dollars).
Nunez, 22, scored 34 goals in 41 games for his Portuguese club in all competitions last season.
The deal to sign defender Virgil van Dijk for 75 million euros, in 2018, was the highest in the history of the Reds when he signed the Dutch player from Southampton.
Reports indicated that Manchester United and Arsenal were interested in signing the Uruguayan striker, who cost Benfica 24 million euros when he moved to him from Almeria in 2020.

The player traveled to Britain from Spain to undergo a medical examination, on Monday, and then sign a contract linking him to the Reds for the next six years.
