Authorities identified Pedro Vázquez Rubert62, to the pedestrian who was run over this morning in Río Grande by a driver who was under the influence of alcohol.
Vázquez Rubert was a neighbor of the Galateo neighborhood of the aforementioned municipality.
The assistant director of the Traffic Bureau, Elvis Zeno, indicated that personnel from the Homicide Division joined the case.
The driver remains under arrest in the cell of the Highway Patrol Bureau headquarters.
“At the moment, the collection of information for the possible filing of charges continues,” said Zeno.
In charge of the case is agent Morales, as well as prosecutor Sandra Cortés.
The incident drew attention this morning when the Police found that the driver continued the march with part of the dismembered body on the car to his residence.
According to the preliminary report of the Police, the fatal accident occurred at around 2:30 am, when the driver of a blue Kia Rio was traveling on PR-3, heading from Carolina to Río Grande.
The 28-year-old driver drove to his residence in Rio Grande and parked. It was the man’s mother who noticed that there was a dismembered body in the car.
Lieutenant Zeno indicated that the torso was in the part of the passenger seat and the legs were left at the scene.
The driver had 0.19% alcohol in his system, more than double the limit of 0.08% established in the Puerto Rico Vehicle and Traffic Law.
