Tyrol’s governor Platter stages his own exit – Tyrol

Günther Platter no longer wants to do that to himself. With these words, the still incumbent governor of Tyrol explained on Monday followingnoon why he would no longer stand as a candidate in the next state elections, but would hand over the scepter following 14 years in office to his desired successor, the state councilor for economic affairs, Anton Mattle. The state party board of the Tyrolean People’s Party (VP) already approved the castling on Monday morning by resolution. Platter’s proposal to hand over to Mattle was unanimously accepted there. At the VP state party conference on July 9, he is to be confirmed by party members as Platter’s successor. And on September 25, according to the VP’s plan, Mattle will lead the party into the early state elections.
