The Ministry of Local Development launched the “Your Voice is Heard” initiative in October 2018, under the auspices of Dr. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly as an unconventional mechanism for communicating with citizens, and to coincide with the state’s efforts to create the foundations and pillars of the new republic that elevates the citizen’s esteem, and places at the top of the priorities the provision and strengthening of communication mechanisms that achieve citizen participation in a framework of transparency and activation of the principles of good governance, especially with The start of a strong launch phase to bring regarding sustainable development that will be reflected in upgrading the level of services and improving the quality of life for the Egyptian citizen to enjoy its fruits.
Major General Mahmoud Shaarawy, Minister of Local Development, revealed that the “Your Voice is Heard” initiative received 12,781 messages during the month of May, including 2,189 complaints, 1,745 of which were resolved, at a rate of 79.7%. Garbage totaled 883 complaints, then construction violations, which numbered 184, and then encroached on agricultural lands and state property, which numbered 57, then corruption complaints, which numbered 7, and all of them were referred to the concerned authorities in the governorates for investigation and necessary action, while the number of complaints reached Complaints related to the Good Life Initiative 11 complaints, and the report indicated that the WhatsApp service received 10,251 messages, including 1807 complaints, of which 1464 complaints were resolved, or 81%, and 343 complaints are being resolved. The initiative’s Facebook page also received 2445 messages, including 380 complaints, 279 of which were resolved. Complaints from it accounted for 73.4% of them, while the number of page followers reached more than 72,921 followers.
Major General Mahmoud Shaarawy directed the initiative’s workers to constantly receive complaints regarding any shortage of food commodities in the governorates or the increase in their prices, noting that the ministry’s work team works throughout the day in coordination with the work teams in the governorates, and the initiative works on 5 main types of citizens’ complaints, which are violating construction, And encroachments on agricultural lands and state property, waste of all kinds, occupations, and corruption, in addition to complaints regarding the Corona pandemic, violating the closing dates of public stores and the initiative of a decent life.
