Soaring 6.6% this year, chicken prices are crazy?…

As food prices continue to skyrocket, it was found that chicken was the most expensive food item this year.

According to the National Statistical Portal (KOSIS) of the National Statistical Office on the 12th, the price index for eating out last month rose 4.2% from December last year, exceeding the overall consumer price index increase (3.4%).

The prices of all 39 dining out items rose more than the end of last year, with chicken (6.6%) showing the highest rise, followed by jajangmyeon (6.3%), tteokbokki (6.0%), kalguksu (5.8%), and jjambbong (5.6%). it was Next, gimbap (5.5%), ramen/coffee (5.2% each), fried rice (5.0%), soju/beer (4.9% each), steak (4.8%), doenjang stew white rice, haejang soup, sweet and sour pork (4.7% each), Kimchi stew alum and hamburgers (4.5% each), naengmyeon, pork cutlet, pizza, and lunch boxes (4.4% each) also rose significantly.

In particular, the price increase of food items enjoyed by the public, such as chicken, kalguksu, jajangmyeon, and tteokbokki, was remarkable.

Currently, the price of the representative menu (fried chicken) of major chicken franchises is in the range of 16,000 to 20,000 won per chicken. Major chicken franchises such as BBQ, BHC, Kyochon Chicken, Nene Chicken, Goobne Chicken, Mexicana, Dorae Orae, and Zikoba raised the price of chicken by 1,000 to 2,000 won per chicken at the end of last year or this year.

In the case of chicken, strong prices of raw materials such as chicken, frying powder, and cooking oil had a significant impact. According to the Livestock Products Quality Assessment Service, the average transaction price of chicken No. 10 delivered to franchisees (excluding salting costs, cutting costs, packaging costs, and value-added tax) rose 17.9% from 2983 won in December last year to 3,518 won last month.

Jajangmyeon, kalguksu, and tteokbokki were affected by rising prices of wheat flour and cooking oil, the main ingredients. According to Cham Price, a price information portal from the Korea Consumer Agency, the price of jajangmyeon (in Seoul) rose from 5,692 won in December last year to 6,223 won last month.
