4 Cuernavaca officials dismissed due to suspension bridge collapse

The Government of Cuernavaca dismissed four officials, following the collapse of a suspension bridge named “Paseo Ribereño-Alfonso Sandoval Camuñas” in the Amanalco ravinewhile the mayor Jose Luis Uriostegui Salgado, his wife Luz Maria Zagal, and other people crossed.

They are the Secretary of Sustainable Development and Public Services, Pablo Aguilar Ochoa; the Civil Protection coordinator, Paola Hernández Vargas; the Director of Infrastructure, Raymundo Nova Castro; and the head of the department of canyons, both from the Secretariat of Sustainable Development, Denia Brito González.

Uriostegui Salgado explained that After the technical and legal evaluation of the event, it was decided to remove these people from their position.

Indeed, there is a statement from the Civil Protection coordinator, Paola Hernández Vargas, addressed to the Secretary Pablo Aguilar Ochoa, head of Sustainable Development and Public Services, indicating that the Paseo Ribereño might not be opened until the recommendations were met, ”said the mayor. from Cuernavaca.

The document establishes that Pablo Aguilar Ochoa, secretary of Sustainable Development and Public Services (SDSySP) of the municipality of Cuernavaca, was warned since March 8 regarding the risks existing in the suspension bridge.

Despite the warning, the Secretariat of Sustainable Development and Public Services (SDSySP), in charge of Pablo Aguilar Ochoa, participated in the logistics work for the reopening of the walk.

On June 7, while the walks were reopened and they were taking a tour, the suspension bridge, located in the Glorieta Porfirio Díaz, in the Centro neighborhood, located in the Amanalco ravine, collapsed and at least 25 people fell, of which 18 required hospitalization.
