Ö1 Klassik-Treffpunkt: Ferhan & Ferzan Önder

The piano duo Önder is a guest at Albert Hosp.

The twin sisters Ferhan and Ferzan Önder have been living in Austria since they were 20 years old. In Vienna they received important impulses for their career from Noel Flores, Paul Badura-Skoda and Alfons Kontarsky and completed their studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Their musical path began in the Turkish capital of Ankara: the sisters began playing the piano comparatively late, namely at the age of ten. Just four years later, they won the Special Jury Prize at the international competition in Terni, Italy. This should be the first of many international awards.

Born in Tokat/Turkey, Ferhan and Ferzan Önder have repeatedly emphasized that their Turkish origins have contributed significantly to their rhythmically pointed style of interpretation.

Extensive concert tours have taken the duo to the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Wigmore Hall in London, the Semperoper in Dresden, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, as well as to Zurich, Barcelona, Istanbul, Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo, Taipei and Belgrade, among others and Montpellier.

In March 2022, there was a special opportunity to experience the artists live in the Vienna Konzerthaus: Ferhan and Ferzan Önder created an evening with the writer Orahn Pamuk that will be remembered.
