50 years ago: a beautiful Sète figure disappears

Every day, extracts from the archives of the Midi Libre edition of Sète. Today: June 10, 1972.

We learned with great regret of the death of Mr. Etienne Schlegel, who had continued, in 1925, the furniture business run by his father. Very gifted, loving his job, a job well done, he led a team of quality cabinetmakers-upholsterers, and had carried out the fitting out of all the beautiful Sète houses, helped by his faithful secretary, Miss Roques. His life was an example of righteousness. With a courteous urbanity, never raising his voice, he had acquired the esteem and friendship of his clients. He had married Miss Portalis, and the people of Sétois remember the beautiful “Portalis et Mouchet” chemiserie in which our offices are currently located. The Cercle du commerce loses one of its loyal members. To his family, his children, Mrs. Fournier, Mrs. Jean Vilar and Miss Valentine Schlegel, we offer our heartfelt condolences.
