The artist, Laila Al-Attar, had a great passion for the art of drawing, since she was young, she discovered her talent and love of arts, especially drawing, and she loved to develop that talent, so she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, but she did not know that her talent would lead her to death, and this is her story..
Laila was born in Baghdad in 1944, and in 1967, Al-Attar began her artistic career on a professional level, and only one year following this date, she had launched her first exhibition. The state of alienation experienced by the Iraqi citizen in particular, and the person in general, Lilly has held many art exhibitions, in Iraq, Egypt, Bahrain and Kuwait, and won many awards.
In 1993, Laila al-Attar painted a picture of “Bush the Father”, on the floor of the entrance to the Rashid Hotel in Baghdad, and she did not know at the time that this drawing would be the reason for her killing, which was actually what happened as her home was targeted in an American raid with a missile that killed her and her husband.
What is interesting regarding the matter is that following she was killed in this way because of her drawing, one of her neighbors called “Saif al-Din al-Alusi” confirmed in an article that “Laila al-Attar” was innocent of drawing “Bush”, and that the owner of the idea and the painter of the painting was an artist from Diyala.
