If he has yet to prove himself as a Lakers coach, Darvin Ham has left some great memories as a player. His on-court highlights resurfaced recently, and it didn’t take long for California fans to react ecstatically.
Far from recruiting a big name to replace Frank Vogel in coaching, the Lakers opted for a more modest solution in the person of Darvin Ham. However, this does not detract from the CV of the person concerned, who has a solid experience on the bench given that he had been an assistant coach since 2008, including in LA just following the time of Phil Jackson. On top of that, he was part of the title coaching staff in 2020-21, with the Bucks of Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Proof that he knows perfectly well how to win at the highest level, it was his second ring since he had already acquired one in 2004, as a Pistons player. By the way, we were talking regarding an athlete with admittedly limited playing time (12 minutes on average in his career), but who knew how to make an impression in no time. Indeed, he was able to crush anyone by going up to the dunk just as much as he might repel his opponents with big counters:
Darvin Ham highlights ignite fans
Can Darvin be a player coach? He’s better than anyone on the free agent list and fills all the lakers holes ???? pic.twitter.com/LnAc7OQeg7

Over-athletic to the point of completely destroying a basket (!), the guy was able to put on a show and therefore fits perfectly with the mentality of the City of Angels. Obviously, this does not mean that he will be able to make his squad a Rolls-Royce on the pitch, but we can believe in a level of offensive play much better than that displayed in 2021-22. On the side of the supporters, we were in any case left in shock in the face of such violence:
This our coach??? DAMNNNN!!!! https://t.co/3cSa85PNmn

Darvin Ham really knew how to play!
Darvin Ham knew how to shake the nets and ignite the fans, when he was still active on the floors. Can we believe in a similar show in 2022-23, this time as a coach? The Lakers public wants to hope so.
